Japan Style in Russia

Japan style was on showcase in St. Petersburg, Russia with the opening of the Tokyo Pop Culture Index (TOPIX) at the Baltic House Theatre.

The two day convention is part of that city's annual Japanese Spring festival. This is the first time an event like this has been hosted in St. Petersburg, although similar events have been held in other major cities including Paris, London, and Los Angeles. The show was organized by Japanese company Biken International, which is a publisher and promoter of Japanese art and culture. The main attractions will be stage performances and promotional booths, and the event will showcase a wide variety of pop culture art, anime, manga, games, photography and cosplay. All these forms of pop culture expression are becoming one of Japan's leading export industries, and Russian museums, art dealers, artists, magazines and others who are dedicated to the growing phenomenon are providing support for the event.
