What to wear when you vist NYC.

Rebecca left this question in my comment section. So I am going to turn it into a reader email and answer it for all ya'll.
I have a question-what is the perfect outfit to wear when visting NYC so you don't look like a tourist but will still be comfortable walking around the big apple?
Rebecca,
Well, I may be the fashionista but to me, being comfortable is just as important as looking good. If you are just going for a quick trip like out to dinner or a Broadway show, definitely go for the heels and all that jazz. But, if you are out seeing the sights, taking pics and eating dirty water dogs, go for sneaks and jeans. That is what I wear everyday when I go out and do stuff. But, throw on some funky accessories and you will fit right in. Like add a scarf to a hooded sweatshirt or some great earrings to a tshirt and jeans.
There are certain things to avoid though so that you don't get pegged for a tourist.
1. NO fannypacks, at all, what-so-ever.
2. NO backpacks. Besides being very easily to get in to and steal your goodies, they take up precious space on the subway
. We like to pack it in like sardines on the subway, I don't want your backpack smooshed into my stomach.3. Keep moving, don't stop in the middle of the sidewalk to look at your map or take a picture. Move to the side. Please.
4. Don't think you need to really "trend" it up here. If you have too many things going on, we will know you aren't from here.
Just be comfortable and wear what suits you and you will fit right in!
