Maggie,
I understand your confusion. The whole "Go Green" movement has come
to the forfront of society these days and it is easy to get lost and
confused in the greenness of organics. Let me help you out my dear.
From Wikipedia:
Organic cotton is cotton that is grown without pesticides from plants
which are not genetically modified.
High levels of agrochemicals are used in the production of non-organic,
conventional cotton. Cotton production uses more chemicals per unit area
than any other crop and accounts in total for 16% of the world's
pesticides.[1] The chemicals used in the processing of cotton also pollute the air and surface waters. Residual chemicals may also irritate consumers' skin.
So basically, organic cotton, is cotton produced without chemicals,
which in turn in better to be next to your skin and is healthier for the
environment. Yes, it might cost a little more, but the benefits outweigh
the cost in the end.

Bamboo grows at a very high rate making it a very sustainable reasource for clothing. It has great moisture wicking properties and it is really soft!

If you want a greener option than organic cotton, you could buy used clothes.

What is with the whole bamboo clothing and fabric craze? Am I wrong or isn't the bamboo supply limited and don't pandas need it for their survival?
