Preparation H - great for hemorrhoids and puffy eyes?

Every time I get too little sleep, or wear my glasses for too long sitting in front of a computer, the next morning I wake up with disgustingly puffy eyes, with bags under my eyes in lovely shades of yellow and purple.

My most usable fix is putting a pair of tablespoons in the freezer for a couple of minutes and than pressing it gently over the puffy eyes. It does lessen the puffiness, but it is still visible enough for sunglasses to be a must.

I have recently heard a lot of women swear by Preparation H, the well-known hemorrhoidlinks gel, as the most perfect thing to get rid of puffiness. As I already heard that the same gel can cause irritation, and as I am not really sure whether there indeed are any active ingredients that can reverse the swelling, I've asked the expert Beauty Brainiacs to solve my doubt.

If you have any info whatsoever or have indeed resorted to Prep H to reduce under eye puffiness, please let me know.
