Pantyhose slowly dying off
Filed in archive News on December 12, 2006
Maria Palma from The Runway Scoop made me think about pantyhose. I was really surprised to find out that women in fact do not like them, to the extent of not wearing them ever.
I for one am a proud member of the so-called Generation Y, but I do like pantyhose. I don't find them uncomfortable, saggy, degrading or whatever. The simple fact is that I like sheer tights or pantyhose under my skirts in the changing weather of spring and fall, they keep me warmer and make my pale legs look nicer.
Although I do not feel compelled to wear them all the time, I enjoy the slimming look sheer nylons give, I like the way they are able to pull together behinds and tummies. Tights are quite more comfortable, don't tear when they see a chipped nail and offer the opaqueness so popular nowadays, but where's the pure elegance of pantyhose in it? Do you wear pantyhose or have you too given up the whole ordeal?

Miachelle, I am so glad that there are still people like me. Now I feel a part of this world again.

I guess I'm part of the x generation, but even though I live in a very warm climate, I just don't feel dressed or comfortable wearing a dress without hose. Maybe if I was a size 2, and 22, it'd be different story.

I do seem to get more attention from men when I wear them.

I truly agree that when women wear hose, they look much more stunning and sexy.

I love to see women wearing (patterned) pantyhose, women more alluring, sexier, almost as if they have a secret, of which they indeed have many.

I wear pantyhose virtually 24/7 underneath jean shorts, leotards and tennis briefs, which are the only clothes I wear aside from blouses, t-shirts and sandals. I feel radiant energy when wearing the expensive athletic support varieties; and men take great notice, as was the case last week at an autism conference in Indianapolis. Penny Marshall, Susan St. James, Deidre Hall, Joyce DeWitt, Catherine Bach, Madonna and Meredith Vieira all look great in what is now becoming a slowly-dying fashion trend. Only Vieira now proudly exclaims that she wears pantyhose rather than underwear beneath her clothes; more power to her! These days, the only brand names I hear are L'eggs, Capezio, Danskin, No Nonsense, Hanes' Just My Size, Spanx and Hue. What happened to brand names such as First To Last and Sears' Legtricity?

its hard to believe that there are women who do not like pantyhose.. it feels so soft and sheer and sexy when you wear it.. men go gaga over pantyhose in case some women don't realise that. LONG LIVE PANTYHOSE!!
