Pantyhose, a tutorial
Filed in archive News on December 6, 2007
Pantyhose (also called tights) are sheer, close fitting coverings of the body from the waist to the feet, most frequently worn by women. Like stockings they are usually made of nylon. The one-piece pantyhose garment appeared in the 1960s and provided a convenient alternative to stockings (nylons).
How much do you actually know about pantyhose? How much time to you spend actually picking out a pair? How much thought do you actually put into this process? Probably less than you should, considering how important these things are. I am included in that category, by the way.
Let me offer a little tutorial....
The basic and most inexpensive type of pantyhose is made out of nylon. This type usually tends to rip or "run". These are the kind you find in the grocery store or the drug store and are great for when you are in a jam or everyday wear.
The higher quality of pantyhose are made with a combination of nylon and spandex, also known as Lycra. These would be the kind you would find in a department store.

The epitome of Lyrca pantyhose. The one, the only, SPANX!! I'm sure you have all heard of them. They are amazing and nip and tuck and squeeze and conceal where you need them to. Reversible Tight-End Tights from Spanx, $32 |

Don't overlook the fishnet. Do you know why Britney Spears always has fishnets on? Because they are great camouflage for anything you might want to hide on your legs. "Maybe baby" fishnet pantyhose, $15 from Victoria's Secret |
|
They don't have to just be plain either. Add a little sparkle to your outfit with these. Sparkle Pantyhose, $20 from American Apparel |
Warning: Don't just type "pantyhose" into Google. You will get some really, really weird results. Probably some you don't want to see. Is nothing sacred anymore?

Fortunately, working at home, I don't have to buy a lot of pantyhose, which is good because they're one of my least fave clothing items. Still, I agree that Victoria's Secret makes some of the best stockings out there. **shudders at the thought of Googling pantyhose** lol
