Fall fashion trends: oversized clothing
Filed in archive Dresses , Pants , Suits , Tops , Trends by Ivy on August 28, 2006
The oversized trend will by far be one of the trickiest to wear this fall/winter season. But, luckily, every and each trend designers make us wear can be up- or downgraded, so I think there's a good chance of wearing even the oversized trend without looking like a blob rolling down the company hallway. The trick is to avoid wearing generally oversized clothing - even if you look like a starving model. A better way to go is structured, with larger sleeves, flowing pants or roomy shirts. Also, wear only one of these items at time, and pair it with normal sized and cut clothing.
Look what I have found:
|
Oversized shirt: Matty M Voluminous Poet Blouse sports nice collar, full sleeves and a high empire waist. Available in white and black at Nordstrom for $98 |
|
Oversized suit: Nanette Lepore Scandalous Striped Jacket and Pants are a must have for the fall season. The jacket has voluminous sleeves and a cropped and fitted body, while pants are wide-legged. Gentle stripes will make you look slimmer. Available at Saks Fifth Avenue, pants are $275, jacket $370 |
|
Oversized dress: Catherine Malandrino Long Sleeve Button Down Dress perfect for work because of its mocha color, fit and style. Looking almost vintage, this dress has ruched sleeves and just the perfect length. Get yours at Shopbop for $495

Oversized pants: Rick Owens Silk blend flow pants are just the thing to wear if you're expecting a stress packed day. Will go great with your turtleneck, or a fitted top of any kind. The hems hems have been left intentionally raw for ease of alteration. $615 at Net-a-porter |
