Dress well after 50

So, why should a woman in her fifties wear elastic waistbands, unflattering jeans or otherwise clothing that makes her look unattractive? No one should is my opinion, and Donna Kato from Mercury News agrees. In her article Fashion after 50 Donna states that there is a lot one can do to look great and subtly sexy. One of the things is to know the difference between sexy and obscene:
"If you have good legs and decent derriere, choose pants and skirts that gently accentuate hips and thighs. Make sure the cut and length flatter. For pants, beware of waistbands and elastic: find a rise that ends somewhere just below the belly button. To give the illusion of a flatter tummy, make sure nothing pinches or hangs below or above the waistband.
And, on the subject of pants -- never, ever succumb to mom jeans. High-waisted, tapered jeans on even a slightly round body will inflate the thighs, make hips look larger and legs looks shorter."
Although you will probably not be giving in to mini skirts
over skinny jeans, why not get a great A line skirt with graphic print, a colorful jacket or a pair of slim cropped trousers?![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
My suggestion to all working gals is: keep your pants tailored, your skirts flirty and your jackets following your bodyline. This way we'll all look younger, slimmer and taller, which is not a bad start!
