Do you remember when supermodels ruled the world? OK, maybe not the world, but they certainly ruled the runway and the front of magazine covers. I really miss them on the magazine covers. I hear this complaint now and then about celebrities being everywhere, even on the front of our beloved fashion tomes, and I have to agree. Celebrities have their own mags to grace-People, OK! , national enquirer...(all right, that last one was a joke)

Do they have to take over the fashion arena, too? I suppose it's not surprising when you consider that practically every celebrity now has his or her own "clothing line."

But I really miss covers like this:

Remember the supermodel triumvirate of Campbell-Evangelista-Turlington? Remember when Linda Evangelista reportedly said "I don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day?"

I still read the fashion mags, but every month, I wait with bated breath to see who's on the cover this time. Will it be, yet again, the celeb du jour, or will fashion go back to its roots and celebrate those tall Amazons who wear the clothes instead of letting the clothes wear them?
